Markos Tselekounis is Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Piraeus. He holds a Ph.D. in Regulatory Economics and a Master degree in Telecommunications Economics, both from the University of Athens. He received his B.Sc. degree in Economics from the University of Piraeus. He is a research collaborator of the laboratories Local & Regional Development<\/em> (LORED) <\/em>and Bioeconomy, Circular Economy & Sustainable Development<\/em> of the University of Piraeus, as well as a senior research staff of the Management & Economics of Innovation in Telecom Industries<\/em> (\u039c\u0399\u039d\u03a4)<\/em> Group of the University of Athens.<\/p>\n Before joining the University of Piraeus, he was an adjunct lecturer at the University of Athens and a postdoctoral research fellow at NOVA University of Lisbon. His postdoctoral research was funded by the Portuguese State Scholarships Foundation (Funda\u00e7\u00e3o para a Ci\u00eancia e a Tecnologia), whereas his doctoral research had been co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund) and Greek national funds through the Research Funding Program \u201cHeracleitus II\u201d. He had also been granted scholarships from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and the University of Athens for performance excellence during his undergraduate and postgraduate studies, respectively.<\/p>\n His main research interests are in microeconomic theory, industrial economics, network economics and sustainable development. His research has appeared in many distinguished scientific international journals such as International Journal of Industrial Organization<\/em>, Economics Letters, Review of Industrial Organization<\/em> and Journal of Regulatory Economics<\/em>. He regularly attends international conferences and workshops in the field of industrial organization and sustainable development, such as EARIE, CRESSE, CRETE and ICED. His teaching experience span from microeconomics to sustainability related issues including international strategies for sustainable development and innovation.<\/p>\n Markos is very experienced in analyzing several industries using microeconomics, industrial organization and sustainable development tools as he has been participating in several european and national projects in the areas of sustainable driving and network economics. He is the Scientific Director of the research project \u201cRoad Risk Alerts (RARE): Vehicle insurance premiums as a safe driving mechanism\u201d and has served as a principal researcher in many projects concerning the calculation of regulated wholesale access services, such as Leased Lines, Next Generation Access (NGA) networks, Fixed Termination Rates (FTRs) and Mobile Termination Rates (MTRs), using techno-economic LRIC Bottom-Up models.<\/p>\n Markos has been quite experienced in supervising and coordinating research teams since he has supervised many PhD candidates, as well as BSc and MSc students, both during his doctoral research and as a faculty member.
