Sotiris Karkalakos

Sotiris Karkalakos is a Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Piraeus. He received a BA in Economics from the University of Piraeus, an MSc in Finance from Florida Atlantic University (USA) and a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA).

He has worked at the University of Exeter (England), Keele University (England), DePaul University (USA), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). His research focuses on regional development, corporate tax competition, microeconometrics and spatial series analysis. He has published in international journals such as the Canadian Journal of Economics, the European Economic Review, Regional Science and Urban Economics, the Journal of Macroeconomics and the Journal of Applied Economics, as well as in edited volumes. He is also an academic reviewer for the European Economic Review, the Canadian Journal of Economics, the Journal of Urban Economics and the Journal of Applied Economics. Finally, he participates in conferences both in Greece and abroad.
